OK - final outfit . . . ran out of time for anything more. Added a belt I actually "got" from the Lord and Taylor website . . . and "pom-poms" sorta, on the shoes . . . Excellent decision to "thoughtfully" use the L&T wall of accessories! ;D And the poms are adorable!

Spending part of the day with the Daughter today. I need a little "away" time before the funeral. Besides, I need to get a birthday prez for granddaughter Maddi. I was going to get her something at DragonCon and now that is not happening.
Meantime, the day before yesterday Bob's car was hit by some woman while he was doing some food shopping. It's right rear is totally bashed up and the axle is done. Yesterday he rented from Enterprise. I was shocked that he didn't have car rental on his policy. I wouldn't consider a full coverage without it.
Good news that the shop that he's sent the car to is lending him a freebie. So Enterprise gets their car back.

Boy, those were some boring dresses last might on PR.
Question: did Ven's rose look more like a Farscape-esque black hole, or Charybdis?
Julia, or "too much hand work for a midprice department store dress"

It's a great opener, Erin, but I don't know how to repost. Diane - I am so sorry for Bob's and your loss. And for all of the family. Such a tragedy. (btw, I agree that your disappointment was simply displaced pain -- the death of an infant is too big to deal with so you reacted to something more manageable, but once you'd had time to assimilate were able to see everything more in perspective.) I will keep the family in my prayers -- for comfort if not for understanding, as there is none.

Hugs for those as need and can use them, but watch my ribs and lower back. Did I mention that Sunday's entertainment included hauling one of my livestock panels (16 feet long, 56 inches tall {3 meters by 1.5 meters, basically} of 8X8 inch grid gauge galvanized steel wire) down to the line fence because the cows broke through and ate the neighbor's vegetable garden? Today I get to empty the refrigerator and then fill the new one. Julia, it's been an entertaining time. *Gently hugs Julia* Here's to less entertaining times. I talked to the vet, or rather, the vet tech who talked to our vet, who said that Shadow should have the pain meds for the first couple days just in case, because cats are good at hiding pain. So I dosed her (although partly the carpet), and she got her special little dish of soaked and mashed cat treats, and we're all fine here, how are you? Anne -- sympathy on the cat trauma and hoping your ankle is healing well.

I so wish mine would die (and also the solid iron burner electric stove: die!!!)

Bathroom light burned out. Turns out the a/c is leaking into it. Mercifully, I am living with an a/c repairman. Two hours of cleaning the most disgusting ook covered parts and being rained on with more, he's got a shortlist of stuff to buy (wire, fixture, parts, primer) and a desperate need for a shower-- --but it's all fixable. Nice to live with a man who handy. I'm going to add and addendum: AND has the time . Jim is very handy so doesn't like to outsource and pay for handymen. Unfortunately at this point in his life he doesn't have time to do many of these things himself.

So, I don't know if I mentioned here that I have recently joined a local gym. Until last week I stayed strictly to an aqua exercise program, I take water aerobics twice a week, an occasional Aqua Zumba class, and occasionally I will go in on weekends and water walk for an hour or so. Before anyone thinks that I'm doing super well, I average 2 - 3 hours a week at the gym. It's a respectable goal seeing as it's been over a decade since I did any kind of exercise on a regular basis. Last week I decided it was time to add a lanf based exercise class to my routine. The water work has helped to build up a little bit of endurance but it doesn't seem to be helping me much with my flexibility, so I decided to start with Pilates. Today was my second class and man, it's going to take a lot of determination to keep me going back. Last week, I couldn't do everything but I attempted most and actually managed some of the harder poses easier than the regulars. The down side was I walked away with a throbing headache that lasted two days. This week was the complete opposite and it was kinda discouraging. Even the exercises that I had no problem doing last week I had trouble with today. I think part of that was I was trying to focus on proper breathing more than I had last week so that I could prevent a headache. The way I carry my weight and the general shape of my body makes what seems like every exercise uncomfortable in a bad way, not in an uncomfortable I'm exercising kind of way. On the other hand, the amount of attention I recieve from ALL the participants, not just the instructor, has been a little disconcerting. Don't get me wrong, it's good attention, everyone keeps coming up and telling me what a good job I'm doing and to keep it up, but I've been going to the gym now since March and I've had more people talk to me and say more words to me in two classes than the water people have said to me in 6 months! Oh well, I hope all is ok atleast in s'cubie land. Hugs, vibes, rainbows, sparkles and unicorn poop to all those who want it. Go you with the exercise! Not that you asked for advice but I'd stick with whatever class makes you more comfortable -- of course one should sometimes venture outside one's comfort zone but when it comes to exercising I find I need as many positives as possible.

Put something in the Admin thread I thought you all might get a laugh out of, here.Once you get there, you will understand why I put it there. ALSO: Do any of you regularly read mystery stories? Like Ellery Queen, or Alfred Hitchcock? Or something similar. I am trying to write one and would love a beta reader who knows what the stories in those magazines are like. Wish I could help but I'd make the world's worst beta reader. No discernment at all. Spring you continue to amaze and astound with all your many ventures!

Well, here it is, morning, the next to the last day of August, and I slept until nine. Hooray for me? Julia, the convention is amusing, sort of like watching slugs eat a rotten pear Heh. It is only safe to watch with Twitter feed to keep you company. Oh, Clint Eastwood ---- the parody tweets are amusing.

Having responded, at least in some small measure to posts in this part I offer my personal updates:
Caught a cold on the cruise. Got over it. But TN has had bad air days and non-stop high pollen days since March, I think. Saw pulmonologist on Friday and had to say "ah" 4 times for her. She saw yellow gunk in the back of throat. Suggested I try an antihistimine. Which made sense only it dried me out so much that the primary result was a nasty hacking, non-productive cough. (No nasal congestion, no chest congestion -- just a throat that's all wonky apparently due to interior post-nasal drip.
So now I am on Sudafed (the kind you need a driver's license for) and Bactrim and sleeping in the guest room so my hourly hacking doesn't disturb Jim.
On top of that I had a dental appt and got my pneumonia vacc. updated (all this stuff needs to be done and cleared up for the chemo) -- so yesterday was a totally lost day spent on the couch.
More (and more fun) in the next post.

But good stuff too:
Tom and Sarah were here over the weekend and we had a great party with lots of friends over. Had their wedding pics on 2 iPads that circulated and everyone got to oooh and aaah.
They took a fully loaded (Yay! because anything that goes to Chicago is no longer in my house!) CRV back to Chicago with them.
Monday I went to test drive more cars (so far 2 Toyotas, 2 Hyundais, 2 Mazdas and 2 Subarus) and brought home a Subaru Outback overnight to show Jim.
They had a lot of 2012s on the lot but I don't like dark colors (in the south that's just nuts) and also don't like a moon-roof (only one we ever had leaked -- and I just don't see the point. If I'm running the AC I don't want the sun on my head.)
I looked at Carmax but they had very few Subarus and those they had had high mileage and were still relatively expensive -- which tells me they hold their value, and that the owners hold on to them.
So Jim and I agreed on a number and when I took the car back they ran me figures on a silver 2012 and a whilte 2013 (the one I'd had overnight) which was a demo with 3100 miles on it. Bought the white!
So much for down-sizing. It's pretty much a station wagon. But so far is getting 4-5 mpg better than the CRV was.
Here's hoping it's the last car I'll ever buy (meaning: at about 8000 miles per year I'd like to drive it for 200,000 miles = 25 years!)

Kid stuff:
Carolyn continuing to heal. Also continuing to be unhappy in job. Starts an acting class (mostly for fun) next week. No movement on the Blaine front but if she hasn't broken up with him SHE must feel there is progress.
Allison and Andrew finally decided to get married in Nashville rather than NYC but I don't think his family like the idea of travel over Christmas holiday so the Dec. 29 date is out. I think then they decided to avoid the winter weather in Jan and Feb and picked out March 23 --- turns out our church doesn't do weddings during Lent (who knew? most Episcopalians are hecka liberal but both our priest are totally into the church year calendar (Advent, Pentecost, Lent) and Lent is a time when you don't do celebrations (weddings, baptisms).
I won't try to defend it since I wasn't really even aware of it, but Allie says "it make sense" to her. So I think now they are looking at April which is much later than either of them wanted but takes some of the pressure off to get things done ASAP.
[Suits me fine, the first date I suggested was April 20, the same weekend Tom and Sarah got married.]
