Adopted the 14 year old. Her name had been Samantha, but she changed it to Roxanne.
Here are two pictures . . . one from when she came to my house at the age of 11 (she had decorated her face, as you can see), and one from this week (age 14 going on 25):
She's beautiful! Congratulations on the adoption. They grow up so fast. Congratulations again. wow!

#wavey# be - yay for fun! You are buying a house? That is so cool! #wavey# I am buying a flat if everything lines up in the next few weeks #xfingers# buying progress? it's fun watching other folks catch up and go back over other's posts from a while back. HOWEVER, if a technopagan ever comes by maybe a new part? So you folks who frequent FB maybe ask if you can post here about folks? Like Rob or Rachel or others?

I've been watching a lot of Buffy lately. My DVR picks it ups. It just never gets old, does it? Like a comfortable pair of sexy shoes. Have a great 2015! See you on the flip side! Yes, me too. I just went thru season 6 and started season 7. Not to raise up old discussions but it sure sounded like Spike wanted to be the VAMPIRE he used to be and the demon just decided to (mis)interpret "make me what I was." Also, first thing he did with the soul was try to scratch it out. But, make, JM with the curly hair looked so young! Saw Michelle Tractenburg on an NCIS:LA ep recently and did NOT recognize her or her voice. Willow's hair was almost orange. Show holds up very very well.

#wavey# I am buying a flat if everything lines up in the next few weeks #xfingers# buying progress? Progress is: big meeting on Wednesday this week for to apply for mortgage and pay money. I have arranged this meeting. I booked a room. And I have all the bits of paper, which required going to the bank today, and also two photocopy places. at this point I could theoretically just decide to not buy the place, but the other night I got woke up at three in the morning by people trying to visit someone who did not appear to be there (or possibly live here at all), and they responded to this setback by emptying the foam fire extinguishers all over the hall. Both of them. Making sure to get the doors. and soak everything. And then there were noises from the underneath car park and then in the proper awake time morning the neighbour flats had a fire alarm. none of which is actually unusual in this building. plus one of my neighbours only owns 3 albums, which is a marked improvement on the one who moved out who only liked one song, but includes some total misery music. and another neighbour plays the boom boom music at high volumes and is not amenable to suggestions of turning it down. and this too is pretty much as per usual here. so I'm pretty sure I want to move out, I've spent a year looking for a place so I know what's out there, so this flat is the best flat and I wants it. I'll just see if it works out.

I'm watching blizzard coverage on MSNBC, and it looks scary. All of you in the path of the storm, my best good thoughts are with you. Stay safe, stay warm.

Stay safe, stay warm. yeah, allie had to go up to Columbia today but they canceled anything after 3 pm. her husband posted a short video on instagram. just really starting to snow. it's beginning to sound like the worst of it will pass north of NYC and hit Boston, but Andrew's sister is there. At least we don't have anyone flying this week.

Hi all and a belated Happy New Year!
Seems like everyone is watching Buffy. Including me.
Have been away for much longer than I realized. I can't say I've been busy, more like vegetating. It's getting too hard to sew because I can't stand up to do the ironing any more. I'm sad about that, but I'm starting a new project to see if I can come up with workarounds.
Meantime. The Daughter bought a house and got married. The Son has a wonderful new girlfriend but lost his dog to (mostly) old age. The Oldest Grandson had a car wreck and has sustained back injuries to rival mine--and he's only 24. His attitude is good as possible, but it has to be hard for him. He's home with Mom for now until it either gets better or doesn't. Oldest granddaughter has her two babies now and plans to get married some time this year. Didn't we used to do that in the reverse order?
Younger Granddaughter is deep into Nerdville. She's gearing up for another costume competition. Younger Grandson is also moving into the land of cosplay. We're encouraging him to experiment on fabrications since they interest him so much.
Bob and I plan another cruise. I'm mostly scooter-bound outside the house, but the freedom it offers is worth it. We're still doing Queen Victoria and Mr. Brown. One of our friends has built me a mobile throne. Right now we're still in the breaking in (or rather down!) stage.
I have photos, but can't seem to find a way to upload them.

Hello all! I promise to make a new part soon. Sorry I've not been around much...I've been working on a conference paper, doing some freelance editing, working on a new thing, and shopping around my novel. Some of these endeavors have been more successful than others.
Big hugs to those who need them!

Hey, has anyone heard from Julia? I know her husband was scheduled for back surgery in November; I don't think she's posted since way before Thanksgiving.

Had big meeting yesterday now I have homework of more forms to fill in. ... well, now I have a day to recover and have some brain again, but then, paperwork.
things appear to be worky? but slow, and with deadlines. so I don't know if things will in fact work.
is all very difficult. and then my brain gets full and I get 3 hours sleep.
but I like the new flat, and it remains possible, so onwards.

LOL. Yes, babies for Tom and Sarah. You need some grandchildren.
Yay, ANNE!! Good to do things just for you now and then.
And Yay BECCA!! Very grown up and cool.
Roxanne hurt her foot something awful while wrestling this weekend - yes, that's right, she wrestles, with boys mostly. It is BRUTAL to watch her do it. And she got hurt pretty badly this weekend. They thought the ankle was broken, because so much swelling and bruising, but it turned out to be an awful, awful sprain (8 wks to complete recovery, per the doc). We were in the ER until 2:30AM on Sat night.
The youngest, who is still my foster child, "Mandy," keeps going back and forth about wanting to be adopted by me. She says she's interested in this other family and will probably go visit them. I suspect she is testing me and wants me to stop her, but I can't really do that. I do tell her, "well, I love you and you know I want to adopt you, but I want you to be happy and I want whatever is best for you." And she says "Oh, don't say that! Stop giving me so much love!!!" Yep, that does make it all harder and more confusing, I suppose. She's a cutie, but que sera, sera.
Spring - How is Roxanne's foot? Go her on the wrestling. sounds like "Mandy" really is testing your resolve. Hi, Sue. Roxy's foot is a lot better. She is off the crutches and cleared to wrestle again if the foot is bandaged and taped. She is trying to rush it, and I'm trying to slow her down . . . our usual dynamic. Mandy is something else. She told me two days ago that she had "something important to ask me when we had some time alone," and then when we did, she asked: "Do you want to adopt me?" Now, she KNOWS I do, as I have told her this a million times, so it went like this: ME: Yes. MANDY: I knew you were going to say that, so I have another question for you: WHY do you want to adopt me? ME: Because I love you. MANDY: I knew you were going to say that, too, so I have another question: WHY do you LOVE me? ME: Because you are a great kid, you have lived with me for over a year and I've grown to love you, and I want to help you grow up and watch you do it. MANDY: OK. ME: So . . . I've answered your questions then? MANDY: Yes. And that was the end of that. So who knows what will happen. I just take it day by day. She is such an ANGRY kid, it is challenging. Yesterday, she got mad when I asked her what time she was going to take her shower (I was just trying to sketch out how the evening was going to go), and she angrily replied: "It's none of your business!! My hygiene is MY OWN BUSINESS!!" When I expressed confusion at the response, and said that I was just figuring out the evening because Roxy and I had to shower too, she would have NONE of it, and pouted for a while. She has actually gotten better with her level of anger, but she is SUCH a tinder box.
