Two ficlets from Secondverse (Yindagger). A NFA Lindsey, very sad NC-17ish, and a Spike/Xander BtVS, PG: www.livejournal.com/users/secondverse/173688.html?mode=replyI forget, sometimes, to link to her fics, as I tend to assume they're f-locked, so you might want to check out her journal. Julia, possibly not as bright as I can be

Semi-rec of an author - Spikess, or Dea Brynhild Ensomhet Spikess, for long. I've been enjoying some of her recent funny short stories - like The Spike-Xander Affair and After Hours. I like how she really knows the fandom and loves it while at the same time teasing a bit - poking a little fun at fanfic conventions. I just recently linked to her main fiction page but haven't had the time to really dig into the stories there yet. Anyway, folks might want to stop there and see what you find. www.angelfire.com/oh2/Bryn/Stories.htmlAlso, her LJ is at: www.livejournal.com/users/spikess/Lola

This was mentioned in the main thread when the first three parts were posted, and this is part four. "How the Light Gets In" by Shadowscast, a story bridging the time between "Late Night Porn Store Blues" and "Human Weakness" , recommended above. I can't say enough how much I admire this writer, who has a knife-edged cleanness to her style and a very good grasp on characterization and story telling. Post NFA, Spike has Shanshued and is not having a very good time of it; Xander has been sent to investigate reports of a slayer in LA and finds Illyria, instead, rooming with newly-human Spike in an apartment to which Angel doesn't have an invitation. PG-13, so far: www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=shadowscast&keyword=How+The+Light+Gets+In&filter=allJulia, something about this story just feels really satisfying

I do love me some Giles/Ethan seventies style; this is from pinkdormouse, and is Ethan having his applecart upset by waking up in Giles's bed and not getting kicked out: www.livejournal.com/users/pinkdormouse/285534.html#cutid1PG-13 or very soft R indeed. JUlia, I will remember to post all recs here, I will I will I will

A very interesting story, with good characterization and a very well thought out plot, is developing on Bloodclaim and the writer's Journal. Deep Water, Xander/Spike, Postchosen, and AU from "Destiny", posted up to Chapter 5: www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=claudia6913&keyword=Deep+Water&filter=all”Warning: contains all the usual sloppy grammatical problems, including using 'then" for "than" every time it occurs, and way too much you're instead of your. Which may drive me away from the story rather quickly, alas. Julia, argh. ARGH! ARGH!

Unlike the last writer, who has told me, in regard to her sloppy grammar, a passive agressive version of "If you don't like it don't read it" (grrrrr) Kimberly A always prefaces her chapters with "unbetaed, so sorry." I've never found a usage error worth noting; what I have found, in her earlier fics, is a solid and convincing Xander internal monologue, and a nuanced grasp of the negotiations of relationships. She's got another WIP, this one post NFA and set in San Francisco- and Spander, or heading that way. I felt as if I'd been given a present when it showed up on my freinds list this afternoon. "Through the Looking Glass:" www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=kimberly_fan&keyword=My+Fic:+Through+the+Looking+Glass&filter=allJulia, all smiles

I'd wondered about them, as I enjoyed tham in ways which I had notpreviously been able to enjoy this writer's fics. So, meh. Julia, botheration.

As LJ is down tonight, I was mousing around the archive sites, and hit upon this dandy Giles/Ethan which I'd thought I'd reccomended back around Christmas, but cannot now locate. "Tarnished, by Trekker, gets to NC-17 archive.shriftweb.org/archive/31/tarnished.htmlJulia, should, I suppose, go back and ad archive links to everything I can find

I am so out of the loop when it comes to these things. Do you know the stories from which they are "adapted"? I confess, I have not read anything else on the site yet, had just run across these funny fics. I would certainly enjoy reading the "originals", as it were. Or are they not in the Buffyverse fandom? I confess, I have not read anything else on the site yet, had just run across these funny fics. I would certainly enjoy reading the "originals", as it were. Or are they not in the Buffyverse fandom? Lola The originals are in the Sailor Moon fandom . She noted their origins in author notes at Bloodclaim, but it turns out she did not ask permission of the authors when "adapting" and in one case the adaptation was pretty much search and replace. The ongoing discussion is at : livejournal.com/community/stop_plagiarism/This community was started a few months ago after several cases of blatant plagiarism, one where a S/B fic was search-and-replaced into a S/T one, and another where several relatively well-known fics were presented to an archive community under another authors name. Spikess's is slighly more ambiguous; she's a relatively well-known worter who susally deals in longer fics, and apparently was under the impression that what she did was adaptation. As I said, I read both fics and liked them rather better than her usual run of work, which I find a slog. Julia, still trying to figure out why anyone would do something like that

This is lazy; it's just a repost of what I put in the main thread; usually I try to include more information here, and I may come back and modify this with more information, but, hey, I'm so deeply inefficient of late: More of Nasty Shrew's "Dead Sunflowers" (S/X au after "The Gift") is up: www.livejournal.com/users/nasty_shrew/10313.html?view=177993Also, as I've mentioned before, Uberaeryn has been posting short fics, mostly S/A but also B/G, which I can't handle... lots of them in her LJ and at Hyperion Lobby: www.livejournal.com/users/uberaeryn/www.livejournal.com/community/hyperion_lobby/Julia, other stuff at Hyperion Lobby, also, most of which I'm not reading or have previously read and rec'ced
