Not a BtVS or AtS fic, but a very nice Firefly one. Semi-rec'd on someone's LJ . . . can't remember who . . . they liked it more as an exercise in writing than as the story itself, but I really liked the story. Mal/Jayne, and very plausible - makes me see how these two could get together - they understand each other, but just enough. Long, with a nice slow set up and sweep through the characters and so on. Has plot but not extremely plotty. Has a bit of sharpness when it comes to Inara, but then that is mostly due to the fact that the story is told only from Mal and Jayne's point of view. And it does a nice job with the level of frustration and misunderstanding between Mal and Inara that seems very canon-like to me. Anyway, here it is: firefly.populli.org/archive/8/likedescribing.shtmlLike Describing the Alphabet by Mosca Lola By the by, have no great ideas on better organization, but like some of the thoughts so far, like a place for listing sites and LJ addresses that aren't necessarily story specific. Frankly, I've been meaning to go through my old bookmarks of story archives one day to see which ones are still around and planned on posting them here. Sites that have multiple authors and stories, ya know. I also think that finding some way of better describing what is in the reading recommendations thread would be nice, before you even get into it. So folks know that fic and essays and actual book recommendations and so on are all in here. Something to really send more people here - especially n'ubies who can be intimidated by the size of the site and get lost sometimes. And I suppose I could be more helpful and also IM these ideas to Rachael, rather than just post them, huh?

This has been pimped all over my friends list, and I'm resisting it because, honestly, the last thing I need is a multidrug fic addiction. I like your suggestions. I've already done one major link dump into the LJ Communities thread; do you have any that I've missed? Julia, not like I need them but I'm short on het communities

Julia, not like I need them but I'm short on het communities I've taken a look at them and they seem pretty complete to me. I'm not usually that good for het recs , as I don't read that much het. That said, when I do my project of re-checking bookmarks, some of those sites have all types of fic, slash-het-gen, etc. So you might find a few more resources there. I need to do the bookmark/favorites clean up sometime anyway, because I want to make a disc-ed word doc list of them in case of system crashes or new hard drive purchases, etc. Lola

Julia, evol Ooooh, a fic? I was really glad to see her screencap review (I'm eager for everyone to become a fan of this show, bump up the chatter and ratings and so on). I'll have to bump her up the LJ list to visit. Do you know what characters she's using? I'd love me some Logan/Weevil, but obviously thats not het. Lola

Lola Haven't read it, for the same reason I'm not reading any Firefly or Farscape fic... it's not actual willpower, just a cheap imitation. The fic is called "View from the Cheap Seats". Julia, who wishes she'd finish "Mescla" which is S/X/B and probably one of thos poor dead WIPs we all visit fondly but without hope it will be finshed

Two Ladies of Quality has added a little snippet to the series of fics noted above; when it archives I'll add it to that post and delete this one. S/X, post NFA, PG, with an appearance by Dawn: www.livejournal.com/users/riani1/73295.html?view=443215Julia, so perfectly devised...
