Is your broadband provider Mediacom, by any chance? I've talked to a few of my friends here in town and we're all having the same kinds of problems. It's annoying for me but one guy is a cartoonist (he works on The Green Arrow; how cool is that?) and depends on the computer to be able to do his job so this is especially sucky for him. The DSL guy now has 51 minutes left in which to show. Shall we place bets? We have ours through Sprint. We are actually one of the first customers to have DSL. It has just become available here recently I don't wanna bet because you know where I live now and I don't want you to come and collect when I lose

We're supposed to get Sprint here sometime soon but I'm not holding my breath that the service would be any better. And I'm starting to hear thunder so I'm going to shut down for awhile, surge protector or not.

Is THAT whay I've been saying that all the time?? "The Sh*t" seems to be my new expression... I was trying on some very awesome boots last night and I say to my friend "These are the sh*t!". And this seems to be popping up quite a bit in my vocab these days. I have been wondering where I picked it up. But of couse BtVS would make the most sense. Well, JM said it, not Spike. But I'm sure he didn't invent it.

Patti, I might have missed it. Since time is terribly tight for me these days, if I fall hopelessly behind, I sometimes skip over a couple of pages of posts to catch up. Occasionally this causes the reading to make little sense and now and then I miss something really important. The important thing is you saw it this time and hopefully you can go look and see how we're rated from time to time. It's kinda fun.

I'm suggesting that Giles, and some Canadians, commit Brit-speak in public, and "amongst" is certifiably Brit-speak. Nothing more offensive than that (by intention, if not in execution).
I thought this was an interantional board and therefore Brit-speak was allowed?

I thought this was an interantional board and therefore Brit-speak was allowed? Bollocks! Why the bloody hell would we allow sodding BritSpeak on our bleeding All-American board? Uh, wait. Our all Canadian, American, Australian... ...um. Never mind. Diane (who watches entirely too muchBuffy, PBS, A&E and BBC)

As others are having tech problems I will chime in technical whinge (not so much of problem).
I come here via the "notify" link. I get here and I see a "Hey Kerrie, you have * messages", which would make sense because I have selected the "always long on" opttion. But then things get weird. I get a logon prompt. Why does this happen? I am permanatly logged on and it has already acknowledged my presence. Colour me muddled.

I thought this was an interantional board and therefore Brit-speak was allowed? Indeed, I'm proud to confirm that this an international board. However, I was asked the correct spelling of among or amongst, and I correctly pointed out that both spellings were correct, but only Brits (or those who adhere to those rules) spell it amongst.
Far be it for me to be or seem anti-international! I have enough trouble just being anti-American! (ancient hippie here)

She could give us some Britspeak perspective.

Kerrie... are you following the notify link on a notification email about a PM or on an email about the posts on this thread? If it is the latter, can you copy the link from your email and paste it into a message here? That will help me in answering your question or tracking down the problem. I get notifications from a thread and I don't get the login screen when I follow the link. However, the notifications about PMs have an entirely different link that forces the board to bring up the login screen. So, if you are following one of those links, that would explain why you see the screen even if you are actually logged in already. Thanks! Rae

I very much appreciate the comments of those who read the erotic passage from EME on the main board. Based on those reactions, I no longer had any serious doubt that the passage endangered the R rating of the story as a whole, so I sent it out. The whole chapter is now posted (with the rest of the story) at allaboutspike.com.
We seem to have no moderator with us at the moment. Whichever moderator shows up first, will you please delete the thread called Something Dangerous from the Main board? I can take away my initial posts but not those of the people who were kind enough to give me feedback.
Since the whole chapter is posted at allaboutspike, there's no need for it to remain here in partial form.
Thanks.
LATER: I see Rae is here! Help, Rae?
