Angel will provide that moral barometer that Spike has "misplaced" and Spike will jauntily provide Angel with the impetus to re-integrate his "disassociated" selves -if only in self protection from the jibes Xander: "To read makes our speaking English good." You must read alot.

Rachael- evening- (settling in with chocolate and seltzer *to clear the-never mind- champagne works better but it IS Sunday* your memory does make more the story more emotionally valid- I am trying to remember what version I read (lo these many years ago) that proffered that interpretation- I swear I did not make it up whole cloth - the story really did say that was the purpose of the snow- Now- I 'd be curious to know - what in the original Greek story elicited that translation? These pesky translators- one never knows what their agenda is. You sent me scrambling for any of my various books of mythology-Bullfinch or the Edith (?) one and wouldn't you know- I can find neither. I must tear myself away from this board and clear away the Collier brothers' like mess of books and newspapers that daily threaten to engulf us. I just asked my son, who like mythology, and is closer to high school than I where he studied it. He said Persephone made winter because she was angry and sent the snow to offer hope for the rebirth of dead things in the spring. Or something like that.

Sigh. As it may appear to those paying really close attention, I'm making my way through Season 3 this weekend. Just finished the Zeppo, and I really miss Xander. I love our boys - Spike, Wesley, and have even come to love Angel, but Xander has always been my favorite Buffy Boy. I want one like Xander. Such a great guy, and always making with the funny. (And easy on the eyes, too. ) Sigh again. Nostaligia.

Shanno,
It's looking more and more as if, rather than ADHD "turning into" bipolar in adulthood (a theory my shrink espoused ten years ago when I was finally diagnosed) childhood bipolar disorder has been previously misdiagnosed as ADHD. Bipolar and other depressive disorders can be comorbid with ADHD, though. One of my more demon ridden cousins was ADHD, Bipolar, and Obsessive/Compulsive. Not a fruit basket I'd wish on anyone.
Intellectual giftedness can also coexist with ADHD, and is not, take my word for it, a way of making untreated ADHD easier.
I can write about this stuff in my sleep, which is basically where I am today, but I have to THINK to analyse the Nosferatology... I'm trying to get thoughts together about the syncretism of nature and nurture, and also the way in whgich the Apollonian William is transmogrified into the Dionysian Spike, but I'm stuck on "Fire bad, Tree pretty" when it comes to that stuff. Best take on new subjects with some sleep and a little privacy.

If not, do you have a treat in store! - go to the website, click fanfiction, pick the top shelf of books, click Rob's book and settle in. Each story, nay, each CHAPTER is better than the last, he's outstanding. If you already read the Chronicles, never mind...

Anybody who knows that William is Appolonian (even if his lyre isn't quite in tune) and Spike is Dionysiac is MY kind of gal! Not to mention using "transmogrified" correctly in a sentence!

Perhaps I'll start with Rob's. . .for a nice guy fix.

Not to mention using "transmogrified" correctly in a sentence! Personally, I liked "syncretism", just because, well, it's not often someone uses a word I've NEVER seen before. . . .I am in awe. And this is in "fire bad, tree pretty" state? What are you like when awake?

It's probably time to talk to him about it soon; he's been neglecting his medication again and his wife's not happy. Sometimes I wonder whether ADHD may occasionally be simply what intellectual giftedness looks like from the outside. Sometimes, anyway. One person's apparent (again, from the outside) "inability to focus" may just be someone else not "getting" them. Or the really fast connections they're making in their head. Is it still true that they say bi-polar and/or ADHD can be genetic, particularly on the male side? Shanno
