I'm watching the New Years Day Buffy marathon and just saw the one where the Scoobie experience their worst fears. Buffy is buried alive and comes up a vampire but restrains her blood lust and still saves the day. People have already thrown around the idea of a Slayer being turned into a vamp. Would she have the strength to not go all evil? Would she keep her soul? Would she become a super evil BB? Would she want to be staked rather than exist as a vamp? Combine that idea with speculation about the fate/future of S/B.
Possible Senarios:
Buffy is turned by the FV, she goes all BB and Spike stakes her because he knows she wouldn't want to live as a vamp.
Buffy is mortally wounded and Spike turns her to save her. She resists the bloodlust with his help. (Role reversal). At the end they ride off into the sunset to see Lurky and get her her soul back. They
Buffy is turned and Spike trades his soul to get hers back.
Buffy is turned, gets her soul back but checks into that Budhist retreat Oz went to with the residential program for werewolves and vampires who want to kick their addiction to the flesh and blood of the innocent. Spike awaits her return in Sunnydale as Dawn's watcher.
S/B: I can't really see Buffy with anybody else but Spike. They're perfectly matched. Yin and Yang. Light and dark.(Think of that white dot in the middle of the dark part of the Y/Y symbol as Spike's soul). Equal strength, etc. And they've been on a collision course since day one. What worries me is that we already know that Spike is willing to die for the Slayer. Will the Slayer discover that she's willing to die for Spike? Joss Whedon, you evil fiend! One lousy fricking century of happiness!? Is that too much to ask?

SPIKEY- I MEAN "HAPPY" NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! Rusty wrote (on possible future BTVS scenarios of Buffy as a vampire after seeing the S1 ep where Buffy's portrayed a vampire):
"Buffy is turned by the FV, she goes all BB and Spike stakes her because he knows she wouldn't want to live as a vamp."
"Buffy is mortally wounded and Spike turns her to save her. She resists the bloodlust with his help. (Role reversal). At the end they ride off into the sunset to see Lurky and get her her soul back."
"Buffy is turned and Spike trades his soul to get hers back."
This is great; of all the ones Rusty suggested, these 3 are my favorites AND, I really don't think, are unrealistic in the JossVerse.
#1 above is the most angsty to me as it would leave Spike would be without his beloved (and on that reason alone I'd shed a tear) and would likely stake himself afterwards. #3 above is also angsty to me but less so as she'd still be alive for Spike. Once again and in true form, Spike gives all to a woman who has actually given to him so little pleasure but we know to him, Buffy's crumbs might as well be Fort Knox.
But #2 above I absolutely love, as a hopeless romantic and "Spike lover" to boot. Yeah, dammit, ME - give us a REAL happy ending - make us REALLY suspend disbelief in the JossVerse! Or as Rusty later so well states:
"What worries me is that we already know that Spike is willing to die for the Slayer. Will the Slayer discover that she's willing to die for Spike? Joss Whedon, you evil fiend! One lousy fricking century of happiness!? Is that too much to ask?"
Hell, even one SEASON of happiness would be a miracle from these folks; now you brand-new fans see why Joss is often referred to in such affectionate but "endearing" terms. ;-)
As far as William's family, I can imagine him being at least the only son of a loving but docile mother and an overbearing father who did NOT approve of his son's gentle, poetic tendencies one bit. He may have had a sister or more; I can't picture him having brothers or if he did, they'd have been much older to him and not close at all.
I say this based on several men I've actually known. They tended far away from sports and were more into music and arts. They weren't "manly" enough for their testosterone-overloaded fathers and therefore, as children, never got their dad's respect or any real signs of outward approval or affection. Their dads may have loved them, but if so, they often had a damn crude way of showing it. They had loving mothers, but the dad was definitely THE BOSS of the house. And it DID effect their adults lives drastically.
One of these men, who actually was my ex-husband, was a lot like Spike - he rebelled and became quite a hell-raiser, but all the while retained his artistic tendencies and love for things intellectual such as classic literature and a wide range of musical interests. He was one of the most fearsome men I'd ever known, but he was also THE most intelligent man I'd ever known. I loved him a lot and still do even though we can't be together anymore. Yep - I've definitely got a soft spot for the "bad boys". ;-)

You wanna see a most LOVELY photo of James' face - plus read lots about him and how SFX magazine readers voted him and Spike (plus several other BTVS and ATS characters / stars the sexiest folks around)? By all means, get a copy or back copy of SFX Magazine's Sept. 2002 issue (#95). It's a U.K. - based publication, but it's available in some U.S. retail outlets. Smart readers of good taste, those SFX fans...!! To at least see this awesome magazine cover, go here: www.the-icon.com/btvs/jmsfx902.htm

If SMG doesn't return I see her turning to the Dark Side and Spike having to kill her--what she would want. But he would not kill himself because of his promise to take care of Dawn. No, I don't think Dawn will be the slayer..maybe a new Willow. Although I think Spike would be a "Watcher" of sorts. Hopefully, before the end of Season 7 we will see Spike's sacrifices bring Buffy's love and trust of him to the surface.. and to those "Love Scenes" we have been wanting. Yes, sometimes those silly light-hearted episodes have those hidden facts that will have us going back to our tapes and saying .. OH!!??

A CENTURY OF HAPPINESS FOR BUFFY & SPIKE: No Rusty, it isn’t too much to ask. I’ll ask Joss about it when I go to the set with my measuring tape. That way, I can take care of one bird with two stones (oh dear – did I say that right?). Actually – I have to disagree on the notion that Buffy would ever be turned into a vampire. I don’t think it would fit Joss’ vision of the Buffyverse. Buffy makes mistakes and she has a dark side and all that, but her essence will always be naturally, unquestionably good – and human. That is my take.
WILLIAM’S FAMILY: Hee. I like the speculation. Let’s say William’s mother is slightly loony, but since Mummy spoils him and Dad is their common enemy, he always protects her and takes her side no matter what. This sets him up well for Dru. I mentioned some older sisters because of Spike’s furious, frustrated speech in “Crush” – you know the one about “What do you bloody women want?? WHY do you torment me??”
PICS OF JAMES: I second Gia's WOW! Thanks to those of you who post the links to those BEAUTIFUL pictures of James!! I broke up with my boyfriend of five years over the holidays – I should have known it would never work out for me with the conventional jock type. And though there will be NO chasing after the helicopter for me, I know I’m going to miss him for awhile. Those gorgeous James pictures are a great distraction. Sigh. Men sure are a lot of trouble. I am thinking of praying for an early menopause, in the hope that they stop being so irresistibly attractive.

I hate to tell you Spring but menopause does not end those "feelings" thank heaven. So give it up and just enjoy those gorgeous blue eyes, the bad boy image, and dream. Just hope my husband can ... oh, smashed again.

You're welcome! And oh my, but you'll wince at this... If you ever get hold of that magazine, you'll see that the pic on the cover is probably close to, if not slightly bigger than, life-size. *sigh*

And this week's Von Helsing Institute Award for the creative use of language, and tape, in the pursuit of knowledge goes to.... Spring Summers. The Nosferornithogeology Department is also extremely grateful for your dedication and enthusiasm.Keep up the good work! Actually, one major reason I can think of for ME not turning Buffy is the idea that she'd have to drink pig's blood. Big Eeuuw on that concept. Otherwise she actually didn't change personalities that much as a vamp in "Nightmares" (1:10). That implies to me a chance for her to adjust to the change but still stay Buffy. It would give her immortality, even greater powers, and a reason to stay with Spike. It also gives new meaning to the term *Vampire Slayer*.I'm playing with this idea because of all the heavy innuendo about *what the Slayer really is* over the years. Slayers and vamps must come from the same root stock.I can't see ME just ignoring that.
The FE is out to totally destroy the PRED/PREY, Good/Evil balance system. Why just kill the Slayer, or the slayers-in-waiting for that matter, when you could turn them? Imagine the vamped (or dead) slayerettes as a chorus of *Cheerleaders-From-Hell*. It would appeal to True Evil's sense of humor. The angst! The agony! The horror! The fun!
P.S. Is it time to move some of this thread to the top of the Topics again?

Pam H: What if I stay away from those estrogen supplements? I guess there are worse things than continuing to get a charge out of James and men in general. I have only been man-free for a few weeks and already I am having symptoms. I was watching “What My Line Part I” on my 2nd season DVD. I have seen this episode probably 3 times. But this time, I noticed that in a certain scene, Spike’s crotch looks noticeably, uh . . . prominent.
The scene has Dru, Spike, and that brainy vampire who has been translating text. Spike is sitting on the bed with Dru, showing her a golden cross for the restoration ritual. Then he gets up to stalk around, ranting about how Buffy might interfere. He mentions calling in assassins. He walks back toward the bed stand, which has a lamp at belt level. That was when I noticed a . . . muscle cramp in his pants.
I used the slow motion and hit pause when the pants seemed at their most . . . voluminous. I then used the zoom. (Rusty, as you can tell, I am trying very hard to be deserving of that wonderful award!).
Am I seeing things or what? Is this effect just due to a nice package, tight pants and the way the light hits? Or did Juliette seem particularly effulgent that day to James?
Good God. Maybe I SHOULD chase that helicopter. No. Wrong. Gotta go. Time to call my older sister and make her talk sense to me

Rusty's dog, Grendel was forced to get up from her warm place by the fire and investigate her mistress' hysterical giggling. Soon to be followed by a frantic scrabble thru her DVD collection. I just love research, don't you? I'm sure James pneumaticity merely reflects a rising enthusiasm for his work. I recommend close and repeated observation before reaching a satisfactory conclusion.

I feel my heart Growing quite effulgent; Seeing Spike's crotch Has grown a bulge innit! (Miss Pamela after cueing up her BRAND NEW "Merry Christmas to her" S2 DVD Collection to "What's My Line Part 1", making extra good use of that pause and ZOOM feature!)
See, I too am a poet and you didn't know it! ;-)

Seems I've read in yet another lovely JM interview that at times, Juliette Landau would indeed get somewhat "effulgent" with him during their scenes together, in good-natured, naughty fun. I knew I should have pursued an acting career... And for those others of you who have the S2 DVD's, did you notice in the "features" part (where they have cast & crew interviews and behind-the-scenes mini-documentaries) (1) just how overall happy & almost giddy JM seemed, and (2) how he was even more so alongside Juliette - even had his arm around her when they showed their interview clip together? NICE!!
I certainly don't think there was anything romance-wise going on between the two; I think that all just showed how well they got along and really reflected JM's enthusiasm about his part in the show (...I mean his contribution and ROLE in the show, of course...).
