Gotta love the continuation of the Wizard of Oz references that seem to abound where our erstwhile Henry Gale is concerned...

And the WoO connections continue. Ben's mother was named Emily—as was Dorothy's aunt, wife to Henry Gale.

The birth of Benry. On Benry's birthday. Interesting.
Roger and Emily, and she dies, which I presume ties in with the whole pregnant women dying thing. Were they from the island and did Emily get preggers there? Or was her death just the catatlyst that drove Benry to want to explore this topic?
Aaaaad here comes Locke and daddy, lookin' for answers.
Well, Locke is looking for answers; dad is pretty much just looking lumpish and dead.

I know I shouldn't be here for three more hours, but I had a thought -
The Wizard of Oz turns out to be a fraud.
Do you think there's another someone behind the curtain, and Ben is just the big scary face?
I'll come back tomorrow. G'night, S'cubies.

**settles down with Locke at Benry's knee to listen to him spin lovely fables about the island** "Why don't you just tell me." Heh. Good one, Locke. Well, Benry sounded a little hysterical when Locke suggested Richard take him to see Jacob. "No one talks to Jacob!" No one but you, eh, Benry? "I was born on this island" (liar!!!!) "one of the last that was" (Liar Liar Liar!!). Little Benry and Daddy arrive at the island (bad 70's hair and vans included) to find the Dharma folk in full swing. The original tapes, the various stations, the happy little suburban community in full swing. Daddy was recruited by Mr. Goodspeed? To be an island "work man"? This is too too funny! So, is Benry faking his whole background to all the Others? I'll bet he is! Now time: Sawyer tells Sayid about the tape and Mikhail arrives at the Other camp. Hmmmm. Benry thought he was dead, too? And didn't know about the parachutist and seems a tad unsettled by the news. They are planning to "visit" the other camp day after tomorrow, eh? When they plan to grab all the preggies? I love how Locke announces they are going to see Jacob. Putting it out there in public to see Benry wiggle. And then, damn!! Smackdown on Mikhail! And no one besides Benry seems particularly upset by this or steps in to help. Interesting!!

And, there we have it. Locke just called Ben "The Wizard of Oz". Heee! And Benry had that desperate sound to his voice, didn't he? Everything is under control, really! Really!! Stop looking! I don't know whether or not Locke is right that Jacob doesn't really exist, but Benry is certainly invested in being the only link to him.

Dude! Ben's dad was the body Hurley found in the van! Unless there were other Work Men, yes indeedy do he was. And I suspect it was him, because this is the Island of the Daddy Issues, after all.
