Alexandra,
Thanks for the tip, I will definitely check out that website. And yes, I agree, teaching is an art.
I will find ChE databases useful I'm sure, but the databases we have been learning over the past three days (the time frame is what makes most of our minds wander) we have been learning about the international patent databases and their individual idiosyncracies.
I'm off to check out your link,
Thanks again,
WG

Okay, I am typing now to find out whether or not I have put my foot in it.
I currently have a tape of what Space touted as the "uncut" version of OMWF. It was shown the week OMWF was released on CD. It was also much publicized.
Okay, here is the rub. I have never seen the "cut" version and as such would not recognize the "uncut" version. Space airs parred down versions of Buffy, much like FX so when they say "uncut" we may need to take that with a grain of salt. Is it "uncut" with respect to the original airing, or is it THE "uncut" version.
All I know is that it aired for 62 minutes from opening credits to the "Joss Whedon" at the end (not including closing credits which didn't tape.)
So here is my question. I watched the episode last night with the shooting script in hand. (http://studiesinwords.de/shooting/) It is word for word from the shooting script. So, is the shooting script the same as the "aired" version of OMWF, or is it the same as the "uncut" version of OMWF.
Please, please, please let this be the uncut version! I do not enjoy the taste of my own foot.
Could someone please, PLEASE clear this up for me! (And those to whom I have promised the tape.)

The easiest and quickest way for any Spikeaholic to tell is by Spike's number. In the original version he sings two verses with a chorus in between while in the crypt, before he and Buffy go out into the graveyard. But in the cut version they found it necessary to cut out Spike's second verse (the one where he sings on his knees about being Buffy's willing slave). If you've got Spike on his knees then you've got the original version.

Go the the yellow "home" button at the top of the screen, then scan down until you see Black Sash. Haven't looked at it yet myself. Let's go snoop at it together, eh?

Thank you Deborah! Our Spikey-poo definitely falls on his knees in my version. I ergo declare it to be "uncut."

Yes indeedy Nan, it is up! I was going to post a comment over there, to be the very first poster for that new show, but I felt a little out of place doing so there, as I haven't yet seen the show.
So, allow me to say, if the show isn't meant to be a comedy, they missed their calling. Your version was certainly amusingly chuckle enducing! Good job, especially given the apparently lackluster source material!

Loved it.

Yes - I agree with Nan here. I didn't mean to suggest that everytime we see the game-face, it is meant to be a metaphor for sexual arousal. Sometimes it is, very overtly, like when Spike & Willow have that conversation about how he can't perform, even though he's only 126. But sometimes, it's just about the biting, or simply to indicate that the character is vampire.

I think if they switch JM over to Angel, he would not be in the opening credits. He would probably have 'Tara' status - he'd be recurring but left as a guest star. That would make the most sense to me, if he moves to Angel. I can't imagine David Boreanaz would want the strong competition for the role of vampire with a soul.
The character of Spike is pretty strong stuff. Spike got the limited exposure on BtVS (you know what I mean) because he would have run away with SMG's show if he'd been on camera any more often. I think it's one reason Spike gets brief camera time with twice the amount of camera space devoted to Buffy's reactions to Spike.
What happens when he's on camera? Do you really notice the other actors as much? When he leaves a scene don't you feel that the writers could easily have written more for the character?
We know how we feel about Angel coming back for episodes of BtVS. Imagine the feelings of the B/A shippers who get to see Spike move in with their sweetie. This would not be a match made in heaven.
Joss has his work cut out for him to somehow keep JM in his casting stable without annoying other major players. JM loves Joss and his talent so there may be some kind of deal to wait for a spinoff when it becomes available, but JM has to think of his career and Joss knows it.
In a spinoff maybe Amber Benson could be resurrected as Tara, or appear as another character. But again, Amber Benson has other things she wants to do, so possibilities there are somewhat dim. Even if the duo of Tara and Willow could be the core of a spinoff.
Willow would probably transfer well over to Angel. A bit of foreshadowing has already been started with Willow and Fred getting along. If Willow is in a spinoff, it could split from her Angel stint.
And then we come to Xander. Who does he go with? How does he fit into the Angel dynamic if that is all there is left? I'd trade Xander in and Gunn out, but I'm probably not the majority opinion. Nicholas Brendon has joked that he'd be a janitor if they would keep him. At Angel's hotel, he'd be able to do just that with the addition of fixing things and building things. If they could fit in another character on Angel for NB they might be able to sell that niche for Xander.
Dawn would be the question mark. If Buffy stays alive, she would go with Buffy (unless Buffy goes game face). How could Dawn go anywhere else if Buffy is still standing after the latest apocalypse? If the show ends, how can the writers leave Buffy all cozy on Revello Drive and just end the series? Does that poor house have to finally get demolished?
A lot of questions I'm glad I don't have to write the answers to - the show's writers and Joss have a plan and we'll find out too soon.

There is a school of thought that Xander is too tied to Buffy for him to be in any spinoff. If she goes, he goes. Strangely enough, no one has applied that same argument to Willow or Spike. I'm more than a little confused by that.
Clearly a series can't be built around Xander. On the other hand, a series built around Willow would benefit hugely if he were there. It's hard enough to imagine her without Buffy; I can't see any incarnation of a Willow show without one of the other original Scoobs there with her.
There is great debate within the circle of Nick fans (there are actually quite a few of us, by the way) regarding whether or not Xander can fit into the considerably darker dynamic of Angel. Willow has been one of the darker, more morose characters on BTVS this season, and she was a cool breeze when she appeared on Angel. That says a lot about the tone of that show.
That's the negative. Here's a positive, and a storyline I would enjoy very much: Angel and Xander can't stand the sight of one another. He is the one major character to avoid a crossover in the past, and with good reason. If he were to show up, he'd have to have a major storyline connecting him to the Fang Gang.
I'd vote for a rekindled relationship between Xander and Cordy as two mature adults. Assuming that she's no longer evil or whatever. Somehow I don't think that's our Cordy over there right now, but I digress.....
The point would be a romantic triangle: Xander being with the object of Angel's desire. A neat reversal of early BTVS.
Still, Xander would have to considerably darken his character to fit in. I have no doubt that Nicky can do this. Do we want to see him that way? He and Dawn are the most unscathed characters left.
I don't know. I love Nicky, of course. If Xander is in it, I'll watch it. I wish I had a definitive answer in my mind as to where I'd want him.
Spike and Xander (without Willow) seems like the least likely scenario. I love them both, but realistically speaking, why would Spike need him around? More importantly, why would he WANT him around?

Once again - or twice again, I guess, you delivered Robert! I really enjoyed those chapters, getting worried there with the dumpster thing though - know Spike's kinda fond of sex near dumpsters...but whew! All is well. I'm anxiously waiting for the next chapter, want to see what Buffy has to do in Macy's and find out what Spike wants to do to Buffy that he hasn't already...maybe recite a poem? Yeah, that's gotta be it.

See this is the problem with so much going on. I remember reading this and wanting to say the same thing, but by the time I got caught up reading it was so far behind I lost it. So funny! I'm going to start replying as I read. Now I'm going back to find Nan's bumper-sticker comments. By the way, there is still some spirited discussion going on over on the episode board, don't know if I can get up the energy to reply to it though.

Robert, you're very welcome to the magazine - glad it got to you safely, I knew you'd love that poster.
About Spike/Buffy banter - I think most fanfic makes Spike more banter and less bite than the show does. It's the way a lot of us want him to be with Buffy. So keep doing what you're doing! I think if/when Spike and Buffy ever accepted and enjoyed their love for each other, that is what would happen, because they both have very quick wit and clever tongues and I mean that in a verbal sense.

Does Spike sing a middle verse of his song on his knees in front of Buffy, the lyrics being 'you know...you've got a willing slave, and you just like to play the part that you might misbehave, but til you do I'm telling you stop visiting my grave...and let me rest in peace...'
If so, you have the uncut version.
Other bits - opening scene has Willow, Dawn, maybe Buffy, whisking in and out of the bathroom in Summers house, and after Anya sings about the bunnies she says 'or maybe midgets'.
There are more bits but those should let you know.
