Annaross has begun a new post-Chosen fic--only one substantial chapter posted at this point, but VERY readable and intriguing. It's called "Vampire Walk." It goes AU after Chosen and is set about 3 years later. Buffy has chosen Angel, who shows up stalking Spike in London (Spike does walking tours for tourists and has ties to the new Council) belligerantly demanding where Buffy is.... www.livejournal.com/users/anaross/17745.html?view=231249#t231249Oh, yes, quite lovely- especially for the well developed relationships between Spike and Giles, Dawn, and the young slayer. Thanks, Nan. JUlia, and thanks for having the courage to recommend very young WIPs

JUlia, and thanks for having the courage to recommend very young WIPs I have confidence in Annaross--she seems like a steady, determined sort who will (eventually) finish all she begins.

Glossing is the ultimate Oz writer, as far as I'm concerned. She really gets the depth and complexity behind the taciturn cool. Usually she writes O/G or O/X but this morning she's got an Oz/Buffy, VERY NC-17, and probable to squick some people, so read the warnings. A different and happier BtVS s4, Heterosexual Lesbians: www.livejournal.com/users/glossing/150496.html?view=2985952Julia, unsquickable for the most part

Speaker-to-Customers, always an inventive and literate writer, has committed a perfectly demented and splendidly wacky tale, "Attack of the 50-Foot Willow." It involves Spillow. And urgently appearing and retracted tentacles. And, of course, 50-footness. It's set on and about Graduation Day. I refuse to describe it further because it's, well, indescribable. www.livejournal.com/users/speakr2customrs/47521.html

Too too too funny. The perfect response to the tentacle challenge. Which in itself is just . . . . funny! Lola

Copying what I wrote on the main thread... Here's a rarity for you--a fanfic recommendation from me, Going It Alone: www.livejournal.com/users/m_mcgregor/13690.htmlIt's a Faith story set after both Chosen and NFA as she struggles to continue on the road to redemption after Angel dies--and ultimately has to decide whether to ask for the help she realizes she needs. Well-written and very moving.

Many thanks to you, and Julia and everyone else, for all the odd/wonderful recs. Cheers for your fearlessness and sense of adventure.

The LiveJournal community "The Watcher's Diaries" has been running a Ficathon for stories of historical Slayers and Vampires, as in the "Tales of the Slayers" books. Some of the stories there are very good - I've submitted two myself, and they have been extremely well received - and, alas, some of them are utter rubbish. However the one I'm recommending, "Propugnatrix Pollia" by Quinara, is very good indeed. A Slayer in Ancient Rome at the time of the Emperor Claudius. www.livejournal.com/community/watchersdiaries/ for the community as a whole; www.livejournal.com/community/watchersdiaries/11731.html#cutid1 for that particular story. No Spike, of course; but definitely worth reading.
