I'm glad you're dropping in on us more often, StC--your voice has been missed. I hope your writing goes well, in addition to the one-shots like "Attack of the 50-Foot Willow"--I've been checking your site for more of the novel, but so far nada.

StoptoCheer is a writer I'm not familiar with, a situation I'll try to rectify as soon as possible. This is a Xander, Giles friendship fic which is of the "Seven Conversations that never Happened" form, except it feels very convincingly like seven conversations we just didn't get to hear: www.livejournal.com/users/stoptocheer/367656.html?view=1647912Julia, remembering I need to rec a piece of art from Dodyskin before I go to bed

Alexander Calder used to build tiny models of his mobiles and stabiles, and complicated pieces of jewelry out of single wires... that's what this is like, more than a story... or maybe poetry by Tess Gallagher, or a very short piece by John Cage. Dodyskin, very short, and with disportionate impact: www.livejournal.com/users/dodyskin/68181.html?#cutid1Julia, wishing HARD that I could do that

A continuation of NWHepcat's "Wesley succeeds in kidnapping Connor" story arc, the whole thing now called "Three Fathers". Links to earlier parts in the Author notes. This part is all Xander, PG-13, and shortish: www.livejournal.com/users/nwhepcat/382369.html?view=3069345Julia, glad she's back to it but unsure where it's heading

I wanted to read these four stories in order, and it was more work than I needed it to be. I'm pretty sure I'm going to want to do so again some day, and so I spent some time tonight puting the links in order and posting them here so that I can get to them. There's another reason, though, and it's why I'm putting them in both threads. Three of the stories in this group are technically slash: the first two are Giles/Ethan, the last Spike/Xander. They are not, however, overly concerned with the physical side of either relationship, and are such great, canon-friendly and enormously detailed and rich story telling. In the first two stories, we meet Molly's mother, Chao Ahn's grandfather, and find out how Giles got to Shanghai and where the bus was heading after they left Sunnydale. In the third, Lilah makes an appearance and bullies Spike into running for his unlife. In the fourth, he makes it to the new COW and Giles comes through in the end. Reflections in a Turning Mirror: archive.shriftweb.org/archive/14/reflectionsin.htmlNo Going Back: archive.shriftweb.org/archive/21/nogoing.htmlFrom Hell's Heart I Spit at Thee: archive.shriftweb.org/archive/27/fromhells.htmlAfterwards: archive.shriftweb.org/archive/30/afterwards.htmlThese are also on her website, but since it is one of the Angelfire ones which is full of popups, and is slightly less easily legible, I'm sticking to the Buffy Fiction Archive locations. Julia, really worth reading, honest.

Somewhere back there several pages ago, I posted a list of Xander in Africa fics; Entrenous88 made a call for these fics on her lj, and this post lists all the ones I have, plus several more: www.livejournal.com/users/entrenous88/189141.htmlJulia, some very good authors mentioned, who I'd missed

This was up this morning when I got up, and I just now got back to it. Uberaeryn, her first attempt at Spuffy, and entirely productive. FITB at the end of "Lies my Parents Taught Me", Spike is rational and helpful and Buffy needs that. NC17, organically: www.livejournal.com/users/uberaeryn/54965.html?view=563893Julia, long day, this

This? Is hilarious. It is also, at the very end Giles/Buffy, which I don't like, and am never comfortable recommending. You can stop reading when he steps on her hair and not miss any of the REAL funny. Oh? Also? Drug use and excess alcohol consumption and a discussion of William S. Burroughs and sex toys, mostly Xander. Drunk Xander is funny. This fic is NOT a good influence. "Naked Lunch" by Uberaeryn, Xander, Willow, Buffy/Giles, NC17 for many reasons, totally hilarious: www.livejournal.com/users/uberaeryn/56190.html?view=580990#t580990Julia, feeling like a bad influence
