on Today at 5:41pm, Caraleigh wrote: Eh. It was okay. The ending was pretty sad, I guess, SMG can really turn on the tears, can't she?. I do understand why he did what he did though. I just felt played all the way through it and I guess I should blame the writers and not Angel for it. I'm not quite as irritated with him as I am from In The Dark. I did think he was cute when the first thing he wanted to do was eat.
All in all, it doesn't rank up there with The Body, The Gift and Selfless (for which I cried actual tears for Anya in) to me. Maybe I'm just cold-hearted or something but I did have a few eye-rolls (the slow-mo walk to each other on the pier-thing, but what a gorgeous view!)
I am sad because I just love Doyle and I saw that Hero is the one going to be on tomorrow. I know he dies in that one. I have to agree with you, Caraleigh. The best part of the ep was when he started pigging out--extra funny since DB's gained weight. I really like DB & Angel when He's acting like a big goofy kid. His reasoning did make sense, but no one has a guarantee as to how long they'll live. Buffy deserved to have his love and be happy, even for a short time. I know I'd take blissful happiness for a little while over a long life of misery and loneliness. « Last Edit: Today at 5:54pm by Nicki M »

date=1065636179]Caraleigh, I'm so sorry about your house. That's just awful. I'll keep good thoughts for you and your family. Patti, John, since you're such admirers of the new governor of California, how's about you move here and I'll go someplace that's else? Grrrrr aaargh. eg, thank you for the PM. ;D The Angel ethics discussion is getting really interesting. Is there any way we could bring Kerrie in on it? I'm sure she'd have lots to contribute.[/quote] Thanks Anne, you over-rate my importance I am sure. So does John, he told me what was being discussed assured me of my safety (spoiler-wise) and across I came. I am only up to page 27, and I think the convesation on Angel's ethics has finished, but better late than never. I agree with Spring. Angel, whilst, unselfishly motivated was over-reaching himself by not consulting with others when making his decision. I think John hit the nail on the head when he said that Angel's decion was rational. I think that this is a gender issue. Angel, the quintesential male prefers logic over emotions which is fine if you agree with that perspective. I do not think logic is more important than emotions. They are equally important. Hence the dilemma. You have to choose one. To act rationally or emotionally, not both. Each person's judgement of the siuation is then based on what they perceive to be the most important thing. There is no right answer. Angel feels the pain of putting emotions into second place - he does not want to, but he can't overcome his life philosphy that rationality is more important. In a similar situation, Buffy probably would have put emotions first and just dealt with the fall-out of putting rationality second (probably the end of the world). I won't comment on Spike's life philosophy. Edit. And Patti has locked the part after I had started this post so I will venture into the new part and now not monitor the responses. Damn! Oh well. Shit happens! Hope I have said something worth saying and that you all enjoy discussing the next episode.

Sorry to be posting late: long day at school, rushing, rushing, rushing. Even rushing to read through the postings.
Caraleigh: good luck with everything. Sometimes life sucks, as PattiT says. Moving is the pits, and it can be grueling. Better luck ahead, we hope.
RE: the book of Kells --- way many centuries BEFORE the Sistine Chapel --- and this from a non-Gael!

Darn it all to heck! I completely forgot about the E! Special. *runs off to see if she can catch some of it* Rae, I've got it taped it you want it. DB made JM look restrained--he was very hyper. But in a really nice way--he kept taking Kristen around and introducing non-stars--director, stunt men, etc. She seemed more interested in talking to JM (who can blame her). He seemed a little caught between trying to do right by pushing the show and not making himself out to be more important than the other cast members. There were spoilers for tonight's ep, but there was NO WESLEY, or Lorne. Boo-hoo. JM kept his hands either in his pockets or thumbs hooked in the belt like he often does. Jeez they seem like such fun and genuinely likeable people! Oh yeah, asked about coming to Angel from Buffy, James said, " It's a guys set, I really like that.

There was a lot of spoilery stuff - but it was such fun - they do look like they are having a good time, and were teasing James - especially Amy Acker. I didn't tape it cause I have the tape all set for Angel...and am too dorky to handle both...Hey, they just mentioned Angel again, just as they went off air! Nice coverage...2 separate interview/set features, and several promo/mentions! Nice...

I've never seen this show before. I don't like Kristen. She seemed to try to be a part of the group. She asked questions and then kept talking. Only David interrupted her. I was surprised to see James so restrained, but it was rather sweet.
I think Angel is like most people constantly vacillating between the rational and the emotional, while Spike is like some of us who are totally scewed toward the emotional.
Angel and Angelus may be a metaphor for that continual conflict between reason and emotion that all of us experience. Joss is fond of metaphor.
Someone has to be rational or nothing gets done or solved. But Angel has subdued his rational side when he made love with Buffy. He knew it was wrong. He even tried to stop, but he gave in to the girl he loved as well as his own emotional, passionate self.

Sue, I'd love it if you really wouldn't mind! I am so bummed that I missed it. Ahh, naturally I had serious laptop connection issues right when I was going to watch E! and had to fix the problem before I stop and do anything else (I HAVE to get some work done during Smallville). So, if you don't mind sharing... I'd love to see it!

Kristin is a TOTAL Buffy Angel fan...and mainly she is a total James Marsters fan, so I like her. She gives us good coverage at every opportunity. I think she truly gets so excited being around him that she acts goofy.

There was a nice atmosphere of comaraderie, with DB clearly in charge, wanting to be the good host, but not wanting to be a "diva" type. Lots of teasing of cast and crew, and good interactions between DB and JM. Even some ribbing about JM giving DB a kiss. (I didn't catch all of that.) Also some teasing about JM doing a nude scene recently, and sitting naked on the couch in Angel's office.
I'm sure someone will have this vidded on their site within the next few days.
It was a fun interview. Very sparky.

I see it as a conflict also between order and chaos. Spike is a creature of chaotic and fervent emotion; though he can subdue his rage and killing instinct for another strong emotion, that of love.
I hope they will also show Spike as being capable of self-control and doing the right thing occasionally; as well as his being his snarkily adorable brat-prince self. [glow=green,2,300]GAIL [/glow]
